    @CatWithUT Thank you for your work it seems very interesting to me! Just a quick question: do you think it would be feasible to create a .click package and have it in the Openstore? In a similar fashion that uWolf and uFirefox does? Can we avoid libertine containers? Do you think upcoming Mir2.0 will change anything in this regard as it supports Wayland? Do you use Mobian build scripts for ARM, for signal-desktop? https://github.com/0mniteck/Signal-Desktop-Mobian/releases And also note: if we can get an initial version to build and make an UT package I'm willing to work on making patches to make the interface responsive as I have done with whatsapp web. I think this is the easy part. But we should first make a set of scripts to build automatically a binary, and then a click package that can run on UT.

The latest in your other thread <Taking the plunge> about banking apps and others stuff: @O.o. said in Taking the plunge: I've been dithering and hesitating to give Ubuntu Touch a spin for months, and the obscene Google monopoly's decision to kill off deGoogled ROMs and open-source repos finally pushed me over the edge. I've ordered a Fairphone 5, onto which I'll install Ubuntu Touch, and hopefully I will make it my new daily driver. For the things I need that don't exist in the OpenStore, I intend to start developing for Ubuntu Touch. I suppose it had to happen one day. Google made it today.     Thanks AppLee UT is pretty awesome. Really appreciate UBPorts taking over what Canonical started. I've found a lot of annoying quirks in it too, since I compare everything to Android, which of course isn't fair. Some can be worked around - but then some is just to annoying. Hence my 'post of frustration'. I'm trying to get an overview github (did a post there some days ago regarding another issue, not getting any feedback - maybe posted wrongly, I don't know). It's a bit confusing navigating github/gitlabs - but ... baby steps. Happy holidays to you too

    Wow, that was quick - many thanks to you @Lakotaubp and @makeixo! Indeed, wiping the caches using twrp as suggested in the linked topic helped: The recovery did not reboot anymore and I was able to complete the installation of UBports. Unfortunately, I got a black screen afterwards. So I did the following: removed card tray (was empty anyways, but who knows) downloaded and flashed the (older) SW binaries for Android 7.1 as my device had the newer ones for Android 8 before switched to the "edge" channel Not sure which of these did the trick, but now UBports boots up just fine.

    @polyglossia we can do little about it, and big companies will almost always refuse to build their Apps for anything else than iOS and Android. Its the sad story of mobile devices that webapps, which would be sufficient in lets say 70% of cases, are dying a slow death nowadays.

    Hi, finally, it works. Main reasons: I skipped the step with the Smart Phone Flash tool The program modemmanager was installed in the system So, I had to uninstall the modemmanager program and I run SPFT with sudo. I had to change the USB port, but I was finally able to install Ubuntu in my tablet. Thank you for all the support.

    Same here. GPS stopped working under Ubuntu Touch just before they gave up and it doesn't work under UBports for MX4 with OTA-11. Each time I want to use it, I have to wait about 1 hour until unav or Pure Maps finds my location. Even I do not move, I have to wait the same time, when I try it again. I changed the OS for some weeks to Android/Flyme and it was not much better. Only Google Maps found my place fast by means of WiFi. But all navigation apps failed for at least first 30 minutes of driving. So I think it's a hardware problem.

    Ok, good to know. Thanks for the quick answers. Definitely looking forward to it working again... I guess with the PinePhone also supporting display out, this should see more uptake in the future.

    I think camera app does behave erratically when called to import photos to another app. Could be just broken.

    Just a quick follow up. It seems a lot of the issues may be related to a flaky proximity sensor. I was able to monitor it with a sensor tool I installed from F-Droid. Very intermittent. Tracked the problem down when the phone screen started going to black on the Lineage install after a couple of days. Seems to be a common problem on the Nexus 4 but there is also a chip in the glass right near the sensor, so it may be that as well.
