The issue was me not having a screen lock passcode defined. Not sure if this is the best way to approach this, a settings page for editing user information (including name and root password) would be useful, that one could then opt out for the screenlock.

@Eureka I believe "mr_nice_guy" is a generic name for a user. Use your actual username for this. On the other hand if you are running this within Ubuntu you don't need to create a container, you should use the other set of instructions without creating a container.

Since a couple of days ago I'm having issues with GPS in my Nexus 5. Whenever I try to use uNav, after I tell it to get the location, a black screen appears with "GPS access disabled". GPS is enabled. Also: the GPS indicator is always full white, even if I disable GPS. Curiously it was working perfectly only two or three days ago, and I haven't received any updates or changed anything in my settings AFAICT I'm on 15.04/rc.

@cyril.e Hello, I found. The launcher is named "RPV" and not "VPN". Sorry.

I tried the tool, and I think despite those errors it manages to back up all that is possible to back up. For instance wifi passwords and some configurations will not be backed up. These errors come from some symbolic links that rsync is not able to copy. On the other hand this backup is not related with the actual flashing of the device, it is just a copy of your home folder in the old device and then you can restore it into your flash device. Once you reinstall all your old applications (this is not backed up either) you should recover almost everything from your old device.

Hello. First, you can use the sidebar to place links to apps that matter and order them as you'd like. Then you can use the gerk tools to choose the favorite apps that will appear in the top of the list. Finally there was the 'app' scope that I do not know if it is currently available because I do not personally use it. G

Thanks all that fits with what I'm getting, so the phone is fine. Also UT looks and feels to work better on the nexus than my bq5. A bit subjective I know but enjoying using itit again now. Much better than the mx4. A big thanks one and all for the work so far.

I was going to say that via Ubuntu may be better. I ported my E5 using Ubuntu and the magic-device-tool and there was no issues at all. To tell you the truth, I was pleasantly surprised at how much of a smooth process it was. A great little terminal tool.

@Flohack That's what suggested him initially as well, altough he wrote that he does not want to do that. So I try to as well suggest on how to achieve his goal.

Thanks, but since I was root, the permission issue wasn't it. Turns out there's some notion of RGB lock in the LED driver for the Nexus 5. To make the LED's do things you have to bracket your changes with writing 0 to rgb_start, then make changes, then when you write 1 to rgb_start you'll see them. I now have a nice blinking red LED, which will be quite handy for visual indication of new notification! (Asiek777, thanks for verifying that it wasn't a hardware problem on my end.)

Welcome to the forum! Before flashing your device, please make sure that you can live with the issues that you see here. They are being fixed by the developer working on the Nexus 4, but you should be aware of them before flashing. You will need to reflash your phone in order to update to our builds. Please ensure that you back up your data before continuing. There are instructions for backing up and restoring your data on this wiki page. After you've finished that, follow the instructions on the device page to flash Ubuntu Touch.
