@freddo I see that files on system-image.ubports.com are stored with digital signatures, so, the situation is better here, but still requires implementing mechanism of choosing mirrors in installer software. I'll take a look at that soon. Thanks

TEXStudio is working in Libertine! The generation of sample documents went well. Tested on channel 24.04/daily on Fairphone 4. RAM usage topped at 2.7GB (free -h). Other working things that are often used together with TEXStudio in the same libertine container: inkscape (vector graphics) atril (pdf viewer) thunar (file manager) Other; mousepad (text editor) parole (music) Not working as well out of the box: emacs gedit leafpad (usable, complaining about wayland) Observations xfce software tends to work with libertine. Some windows get a window title bar that I didn't figure out how to get rid of. Some apps in libertine are in bright mode. Maybe there is a way to add dark mode theme to a libertine container. A libertine container can say you need to run dpkg --configure -a as root to fix an installation gone wrong. How to become root in a libertine container is not straight forward. su - not working. su phablet not working. libertine-container-manager exec -i noble -c "/bin/bash" and then fakeroot seems to work.

@ma Thanks for your suggestion. Things are working now since downgrading to 24.04.1.x RC. I think the 24.04.2.x version had several things in read-only mode (only guessing from reading the logs that were generated). Even when trying commands as sudo, received similar errors "need root access, read access, etc". Appreciate your input.

Thanks, but since I was root, the permission issue wasn't it. Turns out there's some notion of RGB lock in the LED driver for the Nexus 5. To make the LED's do things you have to bracket your changes with writing 0 to rgb_start, then make changes, then when you write 1 to rgb_start you'll see them. I now have a nice blinking red LED, which will be quite handy for visual indication of new notification! (Asiek777, thanks for verifying that it wasn't a hardware problem on my end.)

Welcome to the forum! Before flashing your device, please make sure that you can live with the issues that you see here. They are being fixed by the developer working on the Nexus 4, but you should be aware of them before flashing. You will need to reflash your phone in order to update to our builds. Please ensure that you back up your data before continuing. There are instructions for backing up and restoring your data on this wiki page. After you've finished that, follow the instructions on the device page to flash Ubuntu Touch.

@ernest Thanks for your answer. It does not look very serious from the list, but also i do not understand issue #63. What does actually "Calls and network mobile information does not work" mean? I also found that issue #71 is marked as a duplicate, so is it the case that it is fine except that you can't hear when it rings and you'll not be able to connect to mobile network? Will i get all release candidate updates for this device by installing the 15.04/rc channel?

@Phil-UK Dekko never stopped being developed or supported. Just the old code base was deprecated.

@Marathon2422 I already read from a lot of people, that they having the same problem. I also tried to contact BQ and they answer me: ================================= try this one: https://devices.ubports.com/#/frieza With your WiFi, erase the search and turn of your router. Afterwards search again. Change the channels and WPS. Try to reset the tablet, that will help most of the time. ================================= I wrote back, that this is not the problem, but no response anymore.

Got the answer via the Telegram group. It's the desktop root password it's looking for. Doh! I kept thinking it was a password for the phone it needed.

@ubuntu_guy Well, your problem sounds the same like I had with my M10 FHD. I got a workaround from Marius Gripsgard. I wrote here, how I did it: https://forums.ubports.com/topic/263/can-t-get-the-m10-fhd-to-take-the-flash/3 Some people saying, that my hardware is damaged, but how come, that so many peoples hardware is damaged the same? Just leave a comment below my howto, if this was successful for you. So I can see, how many people encounter the same problem. Thanks.. On my device, I have the problem, that the WiFi password will not be stored. I have to reenter it every time I reboot and connecting to the same router. I am not sure, if this comes together with that issue. What is your experience?

Thanks for info. Erased and reset all. Now have clean version (r8) and yes its working again. Just installed r9 and all still seems OK. Might just have been a conflict between the updates.

Best thing is you rsync /home/phablet to an sd card or to a server with ssh installed. Dont Use /* as there are important .files that need to be saved. Use rsync /home/phablet/ target/ and vice versa.

Wow cool page! Didnt know that thingie exists, nice idea! For qour question, no idea what would be necessary. But probably we will have a hard time for adding new features to the current browser. Eventually it will get replaced, but this oxide browser is not continued by Canonical and we got no resources to deal with it - at the moment. BR
