@freddo
I see that files on system-image.ubports.com are stored with digital signatures, so, the situation is better here, but still requires implementing mechanism of choosing mirrors in installer software. I'll take a look at that soon. Thanks
TEXStudio is working in Libertine! The generation of sample documents went well. Tested on channel 24.04/daily on Fairphone 4. RAM usage topped at 2.7GB (free -h).
Other working things that are often used together with TEXStudio in the same libertine container:
inkscape (vector graphics)
atril (pdf viewer)
thunar (file manager)
Other;
mousepad (text editor)
parole (music)
Not working as well out of the box:
emacs
gedit
leafpad (usable, complaining about wayland)
Observations
xfce software tends to work with libertine.
Some windows get a window title bar that I didn't figure out how to get rid of.
Some apps in libertine are in bright mode. Maybe there is a way to add dark mode theme to a libertine container.
A libertine container can say you need to run dpkg --configure -a as root to fix an installation gone wrong. How to become root in a libertine container is not straight forward. su - not working. su phablet not working. libertine-container-manager exec -i noble -c "/bin/bash" and then fakeroot seems to work.
@ma
Thanks for your suggestion. Things are working now since downgrading to 24.04.1.x RC.
I think the 24.04.2.x version had several things in read-only mode (only guessing from reading the logs that were generated). Even when trying commands as sudo, received similar errors "need root access, read access, etc".
Appreciate your input.
@shargar You can try to do this: Go to Contacts, select a contact by holding it, then you will be able to select it. Click on the check box at the top right and select all contacts. Then click on the "share" symbol and select from the "File Manager" sharing options (if you do not have the application, You can install the app). Choose where to save the vcf file.
Then send it by telegram and open it in the new phone.
@wgarcia Thanks for moving the discussion, but most of these issues are already reported on GitHub and I reported them here somewhere already some time ago.
LED: https://github.com/ubports/ubports-touch/issues/48
A bit cumbersome to frequently enable the screen to see if there's a missed notification. The blinking green LED like the BQ would be great.
Call volume: https://github.com/ubports/ubports-touch/issues/137
This can get very troublesome when there's some background noise in the room. Sometimes it's almost impossible to hear the other person properly.
Beep: https://github.com/ubports/ubports-touch/issues/49
Just a small annoyance, although the beep can be very loud depending on where you are :-).
WiFi disconnects: I'll have to describe it properly and submit a bugreport
This is a big issue for me. When the extender has stronger signal than the router, the phone disconnects and wants the password again. This means I can't move around the house without getting disconnected all the time (30+ times/day). The BQ would just seamlessly switch over. I see you even have issues without extender. After disconenction it should just autoconnect without requiring a password again (it is saved already!).
It would be good to be able to modulate the vibrator power, since i cannot remove vibrator for SMS notification (on my pro5), i only have choice between "sound and vibrate" and "only vibrate". So allways vibrator on even if i put all the parameters i see without vibration ... This is the case since i move to ubports, with ubuntu touch from canonical i could reduce the level of vibration or remove it if i remember well.
@vandys, you can try to play with loadkeys, dumpkeys and showkeys in the terminal.

I don't know for the graphic session though. Maybe there's some template somewhere but I didn't investigate it yet.
I did it manually with the steps from the documentation. I did not wanted more problems with the outdated Ubuntu on my wife's laptop. All my other laptops and netbooks run FreeBSD.
I'm happy now having one of my BQ E4.5 flashed to UBports and know that this was more easy then expected. This means that there is some kind of future for my devices and having an Open Source mobile.
Thank you all for this!

@janvi Thanks. Have found some detailed instructions on using sp tool on a bq phone, so will follow those and check as I'm doing it. Think its something I'm doing when trying to use the terminal commands to get it running.
@lnxsr said in UT on Nexus 10:
"This phone needs restoring from a PC or service center."
I got that error message on my Nexus 4 back then when Canonical developed Ubuntu Touch. The solution was my usual solution to delete the local cache and run again.
Your case is different since you use the MD Tool to install, but that tool seem to have similar problems when the cache gets corrupted. I would therefore suggest to remove the cache and run MD Tool again.
To remove the cache you do: rm -fr ~/.cache/ubuntuimages
@hudson It is explained here:
https://wiki.ubports.com/wiki/Release-Channels
I think from what you show you are in 15.04/stable, but you can confirm it with the instructions in that page.
With "old" Canonical OTA-15 used by Ubuntu 3,8 GB. Free storage 9,5 GB. Used by other (pre-)installed Apps 1,9 GB. Other files 172,8 MB. In my case...

Hopefully the fix for the different version numbers will be implemented soon and both will marry up, as this clearly is creating confusion for users.
It would be good if apps were uninstalled via the old Ubuntu Store method as that is clean and easy and it is a known method now.
