I've updated the "Mount_WaydroidHome.sh" script, so the WaydroidHome folder is writable from Ubuntu Touch (without using sudo): #!/bin/bash ## Set-up commands #mkdir ~/WaydroidHome #chmod 755 ~/WaydroidHome #sudo chmod 777 ~/.local/share/waydroid/data/media/0 ## Bind mount Waydroid's home folder if it's not already mounted, and then ensure it (and all sub-folders) stay read/write-able by the Ubuntu Touch user set -e /usr/bin/findmnt -rno SOURCE,TARGET /home/phablet/WaydroidHome >/dev/null || /usr/bin/mount --bind /home/phablet/.local/share/waydroid/data/media/0 /home/phablet/WaydroidHome while /usr/bin/true; do /usr/bin/sleep 5 if [[ ! "$(/usr/bin/stat -c "%a" /home/phablet/WaydroidHome)" == *7 ]]; then /usr/bin/find /home/phablet/WaydroidHome -type d ! -perm -o+rwx -print0 | /usr/bin/xargs -0 -I {} /usr/bin/chmod o+rwx '{}' fi done WARNING: The above scripts work for me, but I haven't tested it thoroughly, or even for that long, and it may contain security flaws. It is (as I said before) just a 'quick hack'. In the spirit of open source, I hope other people will provide improvements to it.

On Fairphone 4 i also have to do a: sudo chmod 666 /var/run/docker.sock and according to https://clickable-ut.dev/en/latest/install.html sudo snap connect clickable:ssh-keys and sudo snap connect clickable:etc-gitconfig are needed after installing clickable, too. P.S.: *.click package compilation works

said in http://repo2.ubports.com/dists/focal/InRelease blocked when there's football on the tv: I have filed a complaint to the internet provider via the OCU. I guess they'll day it's not their fault. I got an «answer». Please note that I'm being blocked (and everyone that connects from a Spanish network) to several websites because, literally «security reasons». «Security reasons» means that a football business is blocking random IPs because they think they are pirating their signal. Also, the «security reasons» are intermittent as you can see in the logs of OONI. The more it goes, the more IPs that are being blocked (it seems). My next step is going to the European Síndic de Greuges (that I don't know how it's called in English)

@pparent The update 3.4.2 has the same bug, you are right. I made again a fresh install getting ... the old bug. To my surprise the English language machine was o.k. for the United States English language - the English laguage for United Kingdom had the bug... Could it be a matter of changing from Focal to Noble? Was there some change in PICO TTS? I am still hoping for a little Christmas wonder...

I have the same problem, but waiting an hour(s?) did not help on my Poco X3 NFC, with Ubuntu Touch 24.04.0 . I tried both from the Terminal & using Waydroid Helper. If I Ctrl-C the Terminal, I see that Python has been stuck on connect(), i.e. the download never even starts. The only way I can get it to install is manually download the needed images to the right place & then run "waydroid init -f". No idea why, as Android apps can access the network just fine, and sourceforge.net doesn't block me from accessing it (but maybe it blocks Python's default user agent?). But I cannot recommend my solution, because some things like GPS seems broken, but someone else says it should work.

@Ryan_6930 Yes indeed, there is a long dial before the phone call goes through. For me it takes about 20 seconds and then the call goes through. Data and text work well for me. Text message just work right away. If the phone calls would go through right away, I could use this phone as a daily driver or even a backup phone. I see that the new update (Ubuntu touch 24.04) for the pixel 3A XL is now available, so hopefully promising updates will happen soon for VoLTE. That's really only thing that is needed to use this phone more as a daily driver or even a backup phone.

@erikcht I agree the offerings in this space are dire and it would be nice to see something competitive develop in the open source world. However, there is almost no overlap between Ubuntu TV and UBPorts. Some of the design ideas are the same, but the software stack is completely different from Ubuntu Touch and the codebase of Ubuntu TV is far too dated to use for rebooting the project. The only thing in the UBports portfolio that could be useful is Lomiri, but I suspect that would be overkill: Something simpler (like Ubuntu Frame) is probably enough. The real problem though is that there is too much "lock in" to proprietary solutions in this market. On the open source side, probably the best project to look at is Kodi.

@hummlbach isn't there a way to unminimize like in Ubuntu? Like, surely I don't have to install every man page manually...

@wally Yes, I was adjusting the edges in UI tweaks. However as I stated in other thread I never liked swype OS navigation. Expanding the subject, I also don't like touch OS navigation. Touch screens register the touch "without my consent", i.e. when I just grab the phone. That's wrong, but it's been like that since the beginning of all mobile OSes. I'd love to see an option to enable touch-and-confirm input where you touch and have to swype a bit immediately to make the original touch point registered as touch, otherwise it's meaningless

said in Enabling MAC randomization: I'll see how it works. 10 days later, I have not seen any problem running with Mac randomization, and I use Wifi every day. On the 'getting the list of stations' subject, I have noticed something new: when I go to Wifi settings and there is nothing displayed (except the access point the phone is connected to, that is), if in a (ssh) console I enter sudo iw dev wlan0 scan the phone screen displays magically the list that was scanned. I don't know what this could mean, maybe the list is cached somewhere and sometimes the cache is stale and not refreshed automatically or it's something else. The cache hypothesis is confirmed just now, I had left displayed a list of wifi stations, left the phone rest for some time, after unlocking it the list has disappeared. There is a wrinckle though: sometimes entering the refresh command, the reply of the command is 'scan aborted!'. This could also be what happens when it does not work. Unfortunately in both cases, the command is displayed in the system journal, but when something goes wrong nothing more is displayed. Sometimes the list vary from one execution to the next a few seconds later, but maybe it's because it's radio after all. Or there is a too short timeout. More investigation is needed (but I'm not giving up, this is only a follow-up). Last thing: the 'scan' command has a [randomise[=<addr>/<mask>] flag, so the randomization can be at 2 levels (scan and normal use) and can not to be done at the scan level, although I don't see why this could have 2 different results on 2 configuration that seem the same. I don't even know why there are 2 levels in the Mac randomization. The only thing I know for sure is that there are some wifi hardware/firmware/driver (?) that do not support Mac randomization (because I have read it in the configuration files for the FP5) so it could be remotely possible that some configuration don't support the randomization at the scan level while supporting it for normal use.

@enki Bug in the Bluetooth? That type of issue does happen intermittently. Try disabling bluetooth then rebooting, on reboot wait for the phone to settle for a few minute before enabling bluetooth and trying again. https://gitlab.com/ubports/porting/reference-device-ports/android11/fairphone-5/fairphone-fp5/-/issues/14
