Sorry for my delay comming back. I have ordered a anotger slimport now will try and see how it goes. Regarding the location. When toggled OFF from notification center. Can't toggle back ON. The animation toggles green but when switching screens it remains OFF greyed. I check on settings and is toggled OFF, greyed. I toggle ON greenfrom the settings menu and change screens and it sets itself OFF greyed again. The only way to get it stay toggle ON and actually working isto, toggle ON under settings and from the same screen to press the power button to turn off the device and then turn it back on and voila location works again. Ill make a video and upload it to explain better.

UT does not yet have any NFC support. Also, I'm not sure if the BQ E4.5 has any NFC hardware.

As of today, I discovered a variant of this bug: the simcard asks for my pin number to connect to the network - it's slightly less annoying since I don't have to reboot. Are there any logs I should check ?

Makes sense, thank you. I think it would make sense as an option in the language dialog, but it might come across as a bit too hacky - especially as people might want to keep their alternative layouts. Might make more sense to just wait for the underlying problems to be worked out. Guess I'll just leave it disabled for now.

@3T_Ed I'm glad all that was needed was some clarification. Yes I guess removing the plugins is not preferable ; a hack is possible but you would have to apply it again after each update.

@AppLee this your message has to be somwhere on first landing pages. This is not quite good for marketing part of the project, but informative and fair enough for new users.

@stanwood Thanks, though I dont expect much here... Providers are not implementing stuff in software. They are just buying equipment, and configure it. Most of the magic happens in the vendor parts of the base station and the mobile device. So probably you would have to talk to Qualcomm

@AppLee I had suggested one time to have some clear instructions in the UT installer, right before flashing the image on the phone, something like: if you have a functional Android phone on which you want to install UT, please do the following tests before proceeding, just to check that your USB cable and phone are ok from the hardware point of view, like: - connect your Android phone to a PC and see if you can transfer files back and forth; if ok, use that cable. - check your SIM, calling, volume buttons, Wifi, Bluetooth, notification LED, etc. whatever hardware functionality you might think; In this way, if someone bought a refurbished Android phone, they can do a hardware healthy check and not jump directly to the flashing step. I know from my case that I didn't bother to do these tests. Luckily, I only had some problems with the USB cable. Hope someone out there is listening, otherwise we'll meet these situations still.

@certain Nothing to thank for. Come back if you face other issues. If solved, could you please mark your post as a "question" and then "solved"? You can do this at your first post, where the Reply button is, bit to the right at "Topic tools". Thanks!

If someone has an idea for a test, that could identify (narrow down, rule out, ...) the culprit, I'm all ears and in testing mood.

@nebulom Hi, the root filesystem is read only which means you cannot install debian packages the traditional way. But it is a Linux afterall so you can remount the FS with write privilege. You can also use a Libertine container which is probably the best choice for you. If you want to use show your students how to create an app for UT it will have multiple pros and cons: Differenciate the host and target computer (cross compilation) Show them the linking issues and requirements How useful yocto, clickable and other tools are to overcome some of the problems What is a bootloader, a rootfs, an OS, a DE and what it means for their code If you just want something simpler just SSH to the computer, code within vi and compile using GCC, UT comes with unecessary complications. But IMHO the previous items are worth tackling with when your learn new skills. Some might like it, some no but they'll learn what it is and what they are willing/able to do.
