@hlbkv gnome software can handle debs and flatpaks (and on Ubuntu also snaps I think). The app itself is a deb, so it is not surprising that it can be installed. The apps that end up being able to be installed with it are probably also debs.

I also have an x23 and ran into all that. I worked the issue to a halium mismatch. The Waydroid Helper app uses v13 and the base install covers up to v11 and guess where our phone sits. Its v12. So eventually I'll dive into it and probably just end up building an x23 specific version which I'll drop in here and on GitHub. I have no clue when I'll get to it though, I have like 5 other major projects from custom kernels, a few apps, a homelab server to finish, and getting my volla to run android apps. But don't worry some of us are hammering this issue out.

@pine_usr These are areas that could use improvement for sure. The PinePhone is the very first non-Android device that Ubuntu Touch has been ported to. It is also the first Wayland device. The focus has been on getting the OS at functional parity with the Android device ports. But many things have to be adjusted or re-engineered to get there. I am sure that once this has progressed to a sufficient degree, the issues you mention will be tackled.

@rocket2nfinity I'll look them over, thanks. I have to admit that Mint had the absolute best plan for $15.00 a month plus the tax for my area was $2.75 a month. That price is for a prepay for a year, which I had no problem doing, it's just too bad the coverage in my area sucks. Had it worked I was going to leave Straight Talk for mine and my wife's iPhone too, but it's not to be. What I'd really prefer doing is swapping the Straight Talk SIM out of my iPhone and put it in the PP64, but that doesn't seem to work either even though my iPhone X is unlocked.

Ya --- calls are still "failing" after the update. I've never messed with phones loading different operating systems. Thanks for the tip on trying Mobian. I'll give it a shot.

OK, so not a PPA actually, just a repo on OBS. So what exactly are you having trouble with there? You just need to do it inside a shell started with libertine-container-manager exec bash and remove the usage of sudo from the commands. But I presume it will then give you an error about there being no Packages or such for the architecture, when you do the apt update.

@nontrivial People will try to help if they can. Anbox is not Ubuntu Touch specific, but there are specific issues with Ubuntu Touch, so I gues this is a right place

So cool! However it seems really hard to install, and I even read that some people had troubles afterwards and had to restore the whole UT until they reinstalled Anbox. I don't really want to have to do that.

@air409 In the North American market yes. Verizon has already black listed it, so you can't put it on their networks period. AT&T will turn off 2g3g voice Jan 2022. It has not made clear if it will blacklist the device. If it does, you won't get service with them either. Not even data. More likely, they will continue to allow it as a data only device. T-mobile will turn off 2g3g voice Jan 2021. They, currently, do not use whitelists and plan to continue allowing non-VoLTE devices on as data only devices. As such, you will need to use Linphone, or if Anbox is fixed, any Voip app, talkatone, truphone, etc., to make phone calls. It really isn't any different than using Google voice, etc. In fact, call quality will be higher. continue

@gte1070 Nexus 7 2012, Ubuntu Touch 13.x and 14.04 images? I am afraid you are running ancient Canonical images on a no longer supported device. I have one looking at me too. But I doubt Ubuntu Touch is the way to go on it any more.

@Keneda It is my understanding that the OPO is more unpredictable than most other phones. Many people complain about problems and it always seem to be really random and unidentified. While with other devices it's more frequently a step missed or hardware issue. OPO is well supported but I sense that installation will always be a pain with this device.

@nontrivial said in Hypothetically run UT apps on regular Ubuntu 18.04?: but is it on the todo list at all? The list is extremely long and ever-growing, as the rest of the world continues to change in different ways around UT. @nontrivial said in Hypothetically run UT apps on regular Ubuntu 18.04?: Once I have a click how would I install it on my desktop? Is there an equivalent to "dpkg -i" ? You need to get https://github.com/ubports/click installed first, and then you can use click to install a package. Though, with other things missing on Ubuntu it may not get you very far.

@arubislander said in Uftp app not connecting via sftp (ssh): @scottbouch For easy log file viewing and sharing I would suggest you install LogViewer from the Open Store. On first run, be sure to change the Pasetbin user in the settings to something other than the default. This will enable you to post the content of log files to Pastbin. Thank you so much for the detailed advice!

@BigB @herr-b Great @herr-b said in [SOLVED] PiVPN with PiHole home server. UT client configuration [step-by-step]: (I also used the same folder, you used in your post but I don't know if this has any influence, just made it easier for me to check the fields and make the new input.) Any directory should be fine, I've just used the same as on my pc to make checking easier
