Hi e.g. Calibre is doing the same with the heart symbol. I belive there are many more applications out there. But for me an essential part why I am also funding this UBports is the hope of an secure and non-spy software. And this is only possible with Free Software at least where you can read the source code. But I'd go even for re-usable code (as this needs to be read and understood to use it therefore less hidden parts, imo) I believe Donations do work as wen can see for Matrix, UBPorts and others. Yes many are strugling but I believe this might also change if people understand the value of free software. I think that an OpenStore should be open. And as for programms I stronlgy believe that one should be able to re-use, change the code and make a living out of it without being harrased by people who have lawyers at their hands or something happening on my computer without me knowing. I love GNU licenses for their viral attitude

@twinkybot IMHO, If the ethical reasons are first for you, points 1. and 2. of my first post, then the choice of Liberapay should prevail. Similarly, if economic rationality, point 3. and 4. predominates and the euro costs you less. We can hope that there will be visibility for donations via Liberapay in a future, if my request to promote this system in the same way as others is taken into account. In other cases, it may make sense to use other means of giving.

@Locamama said in UBports Community Update 17 | November 25, 2017: Pensez-vous que Ubports peut fusionner la micro SD avec le stockage interne de la M10? ....................................................................................... Do you think Ubports can merge the micro SD with the internal storage of the M10? La réponse est : non, cette fonctionalité n'est pas disponible avec UT. Beaucoup de travail serait probablement nécessaire pour un résultat incertain compte tenu des versions anciennes de kernel utilisées dans les versions d'android sous-jacentes à UT. ....................................................................................... The answer is: no, this feature is not available with UT. A lot of work would probably be needed for an uncertain result given the old kernel versions used in android versions underlying UT .

@contraire I have been using Luks encrypted partitions on Ubuntu Touch for a few years and there are some notes on this here, I've just got a OpenPlus One (I did have a 8GB Nexus 4) and now I have space to setup a encrypted Debian Stretch chroot so I'm having a play with that...

I am with lioneldb. I would like to see Xenial come to reasonably priced phones. I noted on Telegram that I can get a Meizu Pro 5 for about £195 on eBay but a comparably-spec'd HTC 10 would set me back over £400 which is out of my budget for the time being. Would be nice therefore to get a clear idea of what Halium devices with Xenial have over non-Halium devices with Xenial. I may get a Halium device in several years after I get a better job and have had a good time with an MP5 for a few years, so there's that. I also raised the question on Telegram last night: "Not to in any way sound greedy, but have you guys discussed the possibility of offering "techy" rewards on Patreon? Stickers and T-shirts are great, but this could be even better. As for what those could entail, I'm not sure, just thought about it in the last couple of minutes. Early beta tests for bleeding-edge new apps maybe?" I'd also add to that, maybe some kind of hardware tech too? Micro USB hubs and a micro HDMI cable/other monitor interfaces for a convergence device? Some other kit? I know the user can buy these things themselves, but it's just an idea and wondering what you guys think about it.

@guru Thanks, I managed to buy a second-hand 32GB(a bit abused to be honest) but I bought it for aprox 65 euros which I think it's ok for the state in which is it. It seems Ubuntu is using aprox 16GB total, for me.

@Einstein212 No worries, thanks for the comment. I think this will be a bit of a longer one to fix to tell yoy the truth, not a quick fix at all

Damn, that's creepy! But assuming that it's real (I don't have any way to check right now) that's certainly something to make people aware of. FUD is how salespeople sell us stuff we neither want nor need.

I have Deko 2 on all my UBPort devices and I get notifications coming through for all the emails. The problem I find is that I cannot open Deko 2 from the notifications or delete unwanted emails from the notifications. I also find that I receive notifications for all my days emails even if they have previously been deleted. If you look on GitLab that is where the Deko 2 issues/new feature requests are being logged. You can look there to see if these have been raised before and if not you can raise them.

I have 3 questions: I learned that the beefy arm64 server you need for development is sponsored by a company. Does this mean that your second patreon goal has no assignment? Wouldn't it be helpful to correct the second goal and maybe also to be more explicit about third one? The old Ubuntu Touch services seem to die one by one. Some time ago it was weather app. Are you guys looking into this? I mean proactive measures could bhave been helpful or at least finding out in time what services risk dying next and maybe get in touch with the right persons in time would be a not so bad idea. I like the convergence idea and I like to hear that actually some people seem to have positive experience with it. Is there any reason why you still need to drop to shell and install from server X in order to get hold of it? I am not saying that I cannot do that. I am saying I do not want to be forced to do that. Why the heck not put it in openstore?

@UKPhil I'm not that put off by Apple because it doesn't "pretend" to be our friend in the way Google does. You know when you buy an iPhone (and you DO buy an iPhone as we all know) that you're paying for the privilege of the best mobile OS there is - Android is particularly weak because it's so fragmented and now we have a bunch of alternative "Androids" too. It's not that I trust Apple per se, but I trust someone who is rude to me up front rather than someone who cuddles me while he's picking my (digital) pocket. Google defines evil more to me than even Microsoft ever did... and I've been out of the business almost as long as I was a part of it. Google pretends to even be a friend of open source (Summer of Code for example) but it does nothing that doesn't directly benefit Google in the long term; and that includes letting employees develop their own products. It's hard to list all the things that Google takes advantage of - I know of some via the FSF and others just by watching my network traffic. It's no surprise that Ubuntu Touch never really got a foothold as it doesn't have a killer app. It's not just the app ecosystem - because let's be honest - 90%+ of those are either utterly banal or just copies of each other. Hard to imagine what the killer app could be - and that, in and of itself has to be a problem. Google (what them again!) is well known for pilfering other people's ideas: Android itself was pinched from Blackberry at first and later from Apple. So, I'll be promoting Ubports proudly and laughing at those who thought I was crazy all those years ago.

Concerning 2, Textsecure is not available in the Openstore but you can install it from the Ubuntu Store. There is no development going on currently on this app. A call for a new developer has been launched on this forum but unfortunately there has not been any response yet. I would love to see its continued development so I really hope someone will take it on. I used the version available in the Ubuntu Store on my Nexus 4. It worked fine and I could message friends who have Signal installed on Android and iphones. However, it does not want to work on my Nexus 5. If you are using a Nexus 5, it would be interesting to know if it works for you.

This is not a feature of the vpn provider, more the vpn software on the individual device. I have PIA and on my android devices I have it set (in the PIA software itself) to only allow Internet traffic when going through the vpn. I have been looking into vpn''s a bit on touch and do not believe that this feature is available yet. Maybe this could be one of the OTA3 feature requests. Either way I would raise it as a feature request in girhub. That way it is recorded and toy can see the progress.
