said in http://repo2.ubports.com/dists/focal/InRelease blocked when there's football on the tv: I have filed a complaint to the internet provider via the OCU. I guess they'll day it's not their fault. I got an «answer». Please note that I'm being blocked (and everyone that connects from a Spanish network) to several websites because, literally «security reasons». «Security reasons» means that a football business is blocking random IPs because they think they are pirating their signal. Also, the «security reasons» are intermittent as you can see in the logs of OONI. The more it goes, the more IPs that are being blocked (it seems). My next step is going to the European Síndic de Greuges (that I don't know how it's called in English)

I've updated the "Mount_WaydroidHome.sh" script, so the WaydroidHome folder is writable from Ubuntu Touch (without using sudo): #!/bin/bash ## Set-up commands #mkdir ~/WaydroidHome #chmod 755 ~/WaydroidHome #sudo chmod 777 ~/.local/share/waydroid/data/media/0 ## Bind mount Waydroid's home folder if it's not already mounted, and then ensure it (and all sub-folders) stay read/write-able by the Ubuntu Touch user set -e /usr/bin/findmnt -rno SOURCE,TARGET /home/phablet/WaydroidHome >/dev/null || /usr/bin/mount --bind /home/phablet/.local/share/waydroid/data/media/0 /home/phablet/WaydroidHome while /usr/bin/true; do /usr/bin/sleep 5 if [[ ! "$(/usr/bin/stat -c "%a" /home/phablet/WaydroidHome)" == *7 ]]; then /usr/bin/find /home/phablet/WaydroidHome -type d ! -perm -o+rwx -print0 | /usr/bin/xargs -0 -I {} /usr/bin/chmod o+rwx '{}' fi done WARNING: The above scripts work for me, but I haven't tested it thoroughly, or even for that long, and it may contain security flaws. It is (as I said before) just a 'quick hack'. In the spirit of open source, I hope other people will provide improvements to it.
  • Community section for all languages other than English

Hello Community, We have decided to add this new section to our Forums, called UBports International. In this section, for now, you'll find the subsections for three different languages: Dutch, German and French. We believe that this section will lower the language barrier for some existing and new forum members. It should allow more people to use the UBports Forum to ask and answer questions about Ubuntu Touch, stay in contact with the community and to get and give support with apps and the OS more freely. These three languages were chosen because we have an existing user base made up by people who speak these languages, and importantly because we have moderators who are native speakers. In the future we will consider adding other languages, if both of these conditions are met. For now, we will start with these three so that we can see whether it works as expected. Please remember that normal Form rules still apply to this section. So If you speak French, German or Dutch, Welcome, bonjour, guten Tag or hoi!

3600 seconds limit for edits? Really?!? Anyway, another attempt on a Mint Debian Edition computer instead of my usual minimal Devuan install gets further along. Hopefully it's ready within an hour so I can update my post. EDIT: flashing worked fine, also VoLTE is active now, which is nice.

@Sentinel said in Smooth Edges (name pending) - Let's Fix the Bugs That Drive You Mad: I felt my post looked quite similar to many others early in the thread Well, yes, absolutely, I was too harsh in singling you out, because for sure some other people were also doing the same. The point I was trying to make is that a big part of being a leader is to priorize, and it's particularly important with a small project like UT, and thinking that priorization is easy is a very big mistake, leaders are not omniscient people who know miraculously how to best priorize. Putting a few dozen prople together to enumerate all what is bugging them is not so useful if no reasoning is done on why the points made are important from the point of view of wider adoption.

@mirroronthewall Yes, this is surprisingly useful, as it means you don't always have to whip out a hardware keyboard, which defeats the point of the small form factor of a phone. Missing support for modifier keys is a big issue when using GUI apps in Libertine, as touch-to-mouse conversion often doesn't behave as it should and can get you 'stuck', so a fallback to keyboard shortcuts is just as necessary there as it may be useful in general: actually, your idea of creating macros for anything seems to solve many problems (including mine) at once, so congrats - now we just need to figure out how! The closest I've found is Ambot Installer: Hacks and Mods, although I need to set up a persistent amd64 QEMU instance on my arm64 laptop before I can allow myself to experiment with it freely (it's the only way I got the installer working). Other tools may be available but I have not been able to surface them yet, I will update this thread as I learn more about the issue and potential solutions.

@ikoz Nice but only works in QML, for example I can't use that in Signal UT. It might be ok for Kaidan though! Is it possible to fetch the keyboard normal height for the device in terminal?

Hello, I am currently running Ubuntu Unity 24.04 with Unity 7.7 desktop. I was wondering if it is possible to install Lomiri alongside to play around with it and switch between Unity 7.7 and Lomiri from the LightDM. I tried running Lomiri on Debian 13 but it did not work with multi-monitor in my case and so I cannot change to Lomiri as a primary desktop until this is repaired (as I see from the website, this is "under construction", per se). I love Unity and love to see the future of how this desktop develops as Lomiri formerly Unity 8. Thank you!!

@uxes That is a great program, but I heard that ATL relies on GTK. Which is not integrated into UT. And besides, list of supported apps is limited compared to Waydroid.

@wally Oh you are right. I thought T9 is what you call the old school way of typing on keypad phones It is called multi-tap apparently which is kinda generic and boring LOL
