    The issue was me not having a screen lock passcode defined. Not sure if this is the best way to approach this, a settings page for editing user information (including name and root password) would be useful, that one could then opt out for the screenlock.

It probably is not "rooted," as such, but unlocked bootloader. That is, unless you actually rooted the Android image. it's still dumb, and I'm not sure unlocked bootloader can be "fixed" without locking the bootloader at the hardware level (which you should not do with Ubuntu Touch).

    It looks like the phone has a hardware issue with the eMMC (Solid state drive). If you have tried multiple USB cables and the device won't allow writing to certain sectors, the storage has failed.

    @somannak No, it's more complicated than that. Use forum search function to see what is waydroid. But i think OPO is not compatible with waydroid anyway.

    @bigb The script from the gabsoftware link works great when run straight in the terminal, but when put in startup, the vpn tries to reconnect but can't for some reason.

    @Jimpson , for me it was in ~/.local/share/ubuntu-download-manager/com.mikeasoft.podbird but if its not there, try using the du command to search for large directories. I started from the very top at ~ and started using this: du -d 1 --block==1G ^this command shows the size of each directory/file in ur current location in terms of gigabytes. podbird should be up there in size, so just start working ur way down

    @keneda Probably ChromeOS but you can install standard Linux apps as it runs a Linux kernel. Or even a standard Linux, I doubt Windows can run on a Chromebook.

    Mp4 videos can be played using Video Player (Pavel Prosto) or even using morph-browser as a video player : for this, the video must be in the Downloads folder (work only if the video is in this folder), copied, and pasted in morph-browser.

    I installed UT for the first time mid-July and then reinstalled for the second time a few days ago, in the hopes that any fooling around I did would resolve itself. I had attempted to install Linphone in the terminal without success, and perhaps entered commands that affected the phone. I can see that I can easily delete photos in the Camera Roll (with 1 click on the red button), but takes many clicks of the red button from the Gallery app. I switched on the Dev mode as suggested above but still can't delete apps of delete a conversation in Teleports. I'm basically brand new to Ubuntu Touch so I can't say for sure that the phone was working better before I perhaps entered a command that "broke" the phone. Doesn't reinstalling UT reset any changes I made?

    I made a few more tests : changed the SIM card for a different operator => instability as soon as I activate 4G (LTE) changed the phone for another Nexus 5 with a brand new battery (replaced this week) => same result changed the power supply for a bigger one (5A) => same result So in my case, the problem is independant of : the phone, the Slimport hdmi adapter, the power supply, the power cables, the cell phone operator, the monitor. I just have to switch on/off 4G data to see the issue appear/disappear. If I am connected to a wifi network, the problem disappears as data is handled through wifi.
