I found a "workaround" for now:

You can get "somewhat" around the sending issue. Type enough so the "Expand Text Box Arrow" is usable (or move you finger around the text box a little (up works very often), for some reason the arrow shows up then too), press it and now you can press the blue send button to the right. It is far FAR from working / good but it works for now. That also allows selecting and then "overwriting" the current text. That can be considered as a "backspace" workaround.

ALSO: Signal-Desktop uses more battery then it should. It uses a far less if you close it and reopen it and don't open any chats. IDK. why.

Getting Waydroid apps to work more like regular UT apps is still a work-in-progress. For now you probably have to use the work-around you discovered.

Well, I don't think Dan is doing the work to convert it to webengine, but yes it is happening, and it is not easy due to how Dekko uses oxide.

Unfortunatly the Ubuntu Touch emulator is not maintained anymore, but you can find some videos on internet.
You can in Europe have a compatible device for less than 100€

I don't think it's necessary to go into every webapp and delete the cookies all the time. The cookie policy should be that 3rd party cookies are disabled by default, so only those from the site you're visiting should be allowed in the webapps.

    Ok

    Ok i have my answer.

    @Marathon2422
I have looked at xxx.skyneel.com and found on it two methods to restore the IMEI on a phone, but none of these works on mine :
1- by installing MobileUncle apps, but its is an android apps so I cant install it on an ubuntu touch phone.
    2- by entering the engineering mode by tapping code * # * # 3646633 # * # * or *#4634#, but in my case nothing happens 😞
So what could I try now ?
should I install an Android system on my aquaris E5 HD and then install MobileUncle apps ?
but how to do it ?

@domubpkm & @lduboeuf Thanks guys for explaining to me. I hid the keyboard like you suggested & it froze again, but when I selected the menu before typing, the menu choices actually loaded in the new window. You basically need to be out of "text entry mode" before you tap the dropdown menu. Thanks again😊

@kugiigi said in List of feature requests/bugs:

First of all, I think it's better to create issues in github for bugs and feature requests πŸ™‚

Im not aware if github, but i will look it up and maybe will repost there?

I would like to give some comments and opinions on your items.

I think this makes sense especially if you just answered a call while in an app. It's not a big deal though because your recent app is a short right swipe away πŸ˜‰

IMO, this isn't a necessity because you really don't need to close all your apps and I've read a few articles that suggests not to even on Android because reopning apps will consume more power and battery. Don't quote me on that though πŸ™‚ And also UT suspends apps so no need to worry on them consuming your battery.

Im not necessarily worried about battery life, more so of it getting too cluttered with many pages

What device do you have? Scaling a bit differs in each device. I find scaling on bq E5/E4.5 a bit too big which I guess what you want. It's ideal to me on Nexus 5 though. In any case, you may download UT Tweak Tool from the OpenStore and system scaling can be changed from there.

I have a OPO. Ut tweak tool is great but it scales everything (obviously), so the items that were perfect become too big

I think you mean app startup time here. It's one of the things UT lags behind Android and iOS and trust me it has already improved a lot from the past years. There might be more improvements in the upcoming updated Unity 8 and Mir πŸ˜‰ Also note that first startup takes more time and it'll be faster the next time.

Notifications are already accessible from the lockscreen through the notification indicator...unless you disabled notifications on lockscreen. And it's already possible to disable the circle of life πŸ˜ƒ Settings app (Security & Privacy >> Stats on welcome screen).

What i mean is the quick popup notification after a text is received for example, it disapears very fast. The swipe notification from the top is good but not when i pull it out of my pocket for a quick check; its an additional step. I didn't see this setting thanks!

If I remember correctly, there was a discussion about this and I think someone already said that it's technically possible and might come in the future.

I don't have an OPO but I can confirm that autofocus is a bit wonky on UT.

Won't make sense since there are pages that you can scroll and swiping upwards will have conflict on those. And in my opinion, it's already great the you close from the bottom since it's easily reachable on phones.

Im not aware of anything that is verticaly swipable in the top menu, though I haven't been using UT very long

@dobey Ah yes that's true. But I can't think of a way to translate that to OSK. 3D touch? πŸ˜ƒ

If you have an android phone, download SwiftKey keyboard, it has this feature and it is very good. It erases whole words at a time only when the button is prssed and held instead of having to chicken peck the backspace real fast which is time consuming when you have 4 or 5 words to backspace for example

BTW, neither of the apps that use camera functionality work, and they all give me an error-message to the effect that I'll have to grant the app camera-access. At the moment the only other app to access the camera on my phone is UTorch.

@advocatux: Thanks for the quick reply. Your post made me thinking... It turned out I have an M10 FHD. Now I'm embarrassed and happy at the same time. On the back of the M10 it just says Aquaris M10. The order confirmation from years ago helped solving this issue...

  • Launch GUI app with Libertine

Many apps that are in the repository currently do NOT work in Libertine. Chromium is one of them - it crashes on launch and there currently is no fix.
The only desktop browsers I was able to get to semi-function in Libertine are Qupzilla and Dooble.
You might also be able to install Firefox via the instructions found at https://blog.arubislander.nl/2018/10/running-firefox-in-1604-libertine.html?m=1
    &
https://github.com/jdonald/firefox-armhf/releases - but it is also very slow and prone to crashing in my experience.

Hopefully this will get fixed in some future updates - but currently UT developers are working on other priorities instead.

    Best regards,

    A few answers

anbox is very experimental still so personally I would expect more than 50% of all apps to not work (anything that uses Google services like the maps api will not work); and probably less than 10% of apps to work without major issues (for me, of around 12 apps I tried only spotify works without me noticing problems) as far as I know there is no icon for anbox (it's just software that runs in the background) I guess these are system apps (on a normal android they are not listed by default in the settings apps) after you enabled anbox with anbox-tool it is supposed to start automatically on boot, but if I remember correctly I also had situations were some commands didn't work; only after starting an android app those were possible so I guess there is still some difference between something like "ready" and "running" or so (or maybe it's just a bug due to the experimental nature of anbox on UT) Android apps rely on a back button, so running android apps on a system that doesn't have those just can't be operated fully; there may or not be workarounds like stopping the app and starting it again

@mihael Yes, this is just the desktop access. The problem is that when we moved to morph it started complaining that chrome has to be updated. It actually works the first time, and if it is closed and opened again it asks for Chrome 36+. If the cache is cleaned it opens again OK, but it has to be cleaned each time so it cannot be sync with the actual Android running Whatsapp. I tried to use QTWebengine to change the user agent to fake it, which can be also done directly in the webapp creator, but also to increase the persistence of the storage to try to avoid the problem after the restart.

It has worked for a couple of days but right now it started failing in restart again, so back to square 0.

@baruchiro said in Add Ubuntu GUI software icon to Scope:

Is it possible to run programs designed for Ubuntu Desktop without Libertine?

Simple answer to your question: no.

You can install programs in the Terminal using the libertine-container-manager commands.
Documentation on how to do this is at http://docs.ubports.com/en/latest/userguide/dailyuse/libertine.html
    and https://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/xenial/man1/libertine-container-manager.1.html
