I ended up installing ubuntu touch stable today to my nexus 5 (hammerhead) with
https://github.com/MariusQuabeck/magic-device-tool

and I got ubuntu 15.04 (r13) (20170127-093441 / 20160603- )

and if I start the browser in phone it crashes at once. That is pretty bad.

I have noticed that the there is OTA-15 out, but I guess that the magic-device-tool did not give me that version. Or did it, how I can check it ?

And does anyone know if magic-device-tool images will be updated in near future ?

I just noticed an update in Open Store. The same update shows in System Settings -> Updates. I updated the app via System Settings and it updated fine and shows in the System Settings history.

@arubislander I uninstalled Webber some time ago and started to use simple browser bookmarks.
The reason is, that you have to add every URL ((sub-)domain) a website might use. Otherwise there's a fallback to the browser which has no passwords (cookies) stored, keeps opening new tabs etc. which is an annoying behaviour.
E.g. for eBay I had more than 20 URLs. And always another one came up (hard to catch due to forwarding) and I had a fallback to Morph again. To add a new URL I had to create the Webber-Shortcut again and add every single URL...
If Webber was able to reopen a shortcut with all settings made, that would be a game changer (or didn't I just see that option?).

I could revive this if your suggestion works, but I'm afraid you have to tell me how to add the user agent header and which one (maybe there are options in Webber. I have to install and check first)...

@hankschwie please tell me exactly how you did it. I tried launch UBPorts with sudo but it does not work. Can you link the URL to Android 8.1 (or anything else) ?

@Thieb you need to enter a package name tapping on "Enter package name or Debian file" button. Also you'd like to start with other package than Firefox because that's broken (upstream bug IIRC).

Small update.
After the PRs by @UniSuperBox and @jonius I was finally able to compile the keyboard package onto my phone. In order to accomplish the task I had to slightly modify the command I used before, i.e. crossbuilder with crossbuilder --password=myPro5password because a bunch of commands sent to the phone requires sudo. In this way I was able to get to the end of the crossbuilding process, I believe without errors. At first I changed just a small thing in the code to see the effect on the phone, but then I tried without changing a thing and after a reboot in both cases I got the keyboard not showing up anymore; so I couldn't access the phone because I couldn't insert the unblocking passcode. A fresh UT install did the trick. Any idea why the crossbuilding process seems not working as expected? I don't have the output log this time but, if needed, I can try again to compile and collect a new one.
